Each SI product is an autonomous edge device that runs its own control logic. SI Gateway reads your inverter, calculates the ECM score, and exposes it via a local HTTP endpoint. Every connected SI device polls that endpoint directly — no broker, no subscription, no cloud. MQTT is available for Home Assistant and the dashboard, but SI devices don't depend on it.
Cloud and remote access are additive — never load-bearing. If the internet drops, your pool pump still runs on schedule. Your tank still gets monitored. Your inverter data still logs locally. We call this local-first. In South Africa, we consider it non-negotiable.
Philosophy
Most "smart home" products stop being smart the moment the internet drops or the company's server goes down. SI products don't. Every edge device retains autonomous control — locally, without phoning home.
Remote access is available and easy. But it is never required for your systems to function. In South Africa, with unreliable connectivity and rolling load shedding, that is the only responsible design choice.

A different architecture
Most energy automation works the same way — a central brain collects data, runs rules, and pushes commands to dumb endpoints. When the brain is offline, so is your automation. When the cloud is unreachable, your pool pump doesn't know what to do.
SI is built differently.
The SI Gateway calculates the ECM score locally and exposes it on a local HTTP endpoint. Every connected device — SI Pool, SI Water, and whatever comes next — polls that endpoint directly and makes its own decision. No broker. No cloud round-trip. No rules to write or maintain.
You set the intent. The devices implement it. Even at 2am during load shedding with no internet.
Energy Intelligence
That's exactly what Solaire Intelligence does. At the heart of the system is the Energy Comfort Model — ECM.
ECM gathers multiple data points from your energy system — solar production, battery state, charging activity, grid usage and more — and combines them into a single, easy-to-understand score that represents how comfortable your energy system is right now.
Instead of every appliance needing to understand solar panels, batteries and inverters — they simply look at the ECM score.
